Getting started

Go from download to your first local project folder in under two minutes.

Install Kenny Writer

Download Kenny Writer for Windows, macOS, or Linux from the Download page. Run the native installer or package for your architecture (x64 or ARM64).

There is no account creation, sign-in screen, or license activation. Kenny Writer opens directly into the project launcher.

Create or open a project folder

Choose Create Project to pick a parent directory on disk, or Open Project to load an existing Kenny Writer folder. Your manuscript chapters, scenes, notes, and project database live inside that directory.

Because projects are plain folders on your drive, you can back them up with Git, external drives, Time Machine, or any cloud-synced folder you already control.

Write your first chapter

Use the Binder on the left to add chapters, scenes, and character or location notes. Write in the center editor, check word counts and daily targets in the right Inspector, and export to DOCX, EPUB, PDF, or Markdown whenever you are ready.
